We Feature the Toyota Prius, and Other Hybrids
When gas prices dropped by about 50 percent late in ’08, sales of trucks and SUVs began to increase. Lots of people decided that burning a lot of gas wasn’t so bad if the price was low. But those who take a longer view know that what goes down, must come up. And when it does, you can be ready, behind the wheel of a fuel-sipping Toyota Prius.
Listed by the EPA as the most fuel-efficient vehicle sold in the U.S., the Prius was the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, and it’s one of the most popular. And why not? At 48 miles per gallon, it nearly doubles the average fleet-wide fuel economy of any American car maker.
The automobile rating site, Edmunds.com, http://www.edmunds.com says of the Prius:
“Even without its innovative and revolutionary hybrid power plant, the Prius would be a sensible, functional-first midsize sedan. It may look small, but the well-packaged and airy interior is spacious for passengers and cargo alike. Plus, a long list of standard and optional features allows the Prius to serve both customers in search of a low-priced conveyance and those in need of more luxurious trappings.
Features like these, have made the Prius one of the 10 best-selling cars in America.
My Auto Imports features the Prius and many other outstanding hybrids that will not only save the world, but save you some money.
Toyota Demonstrates Commitment to Michigan
A Commitment to Michigan
At a time when many car companies are looking for cheap labor over the border, Toyota is committed to Michigan, and committed to the U.S.
They’ve demonstrated that commitment with the all-new Toyota Venza, the first vehicle designed and engineered from concept to final the final production stage at Toyota’s Calty Design Research studios, and Toyota Technical Center, in Ann Arbor Township.
The Toyota Venza, which has just hit dealer showrooms, represents a milestone for its design team and more than 300 engineers in Ann Arbor Township who worked on the vehicle and is likely to lead to more high-profile work for Toyota's Michigan employees.
That local design and engineering effort is good news for southeast Michigan, which has taken a hard hit from the auto industry’s recent troubles.
Toyota has about 1,000 employees in Michigan. The company moved about 500 employees in August and September from Ann Arbor to a new, $187-million research and development center in York Township that expanded the company's vehicle engineering and development capability.
A Commitment to the U.S.
In 13 locations across North America, more than 36,000 Toyota team members are producing over 1.3 million vehicles, more than 1.5 million engines, and nearly 400,000 automatic transmissions every year. Toyota’s annual spending on parts, goods and services with suppliers totals more than $28 billion, and counting, and the company continues to grow, and build more vehicles, engines and transmissions.
